Karva Chauth – An important day for women

The festive months in India are here, one can feel the excitement and gaiety in the air. The Navratri gusto has barely died down, and Karva Chauth is just here. Karva Chauth is one of the most important festivals observed by married women all across North India. They worship the moon after sighting it and have the first sip of water and morsel of food given to them by their husbands. The entire ritual reinstates the love, faith and commitment of a married woman for her husband and strengthens marital bonds.

Every Indian occasion is incomplete with culinary delights! And Karva Chauth is no exception. Potatoes or Aloo and dry fruits are popular options for fasting days. Some of the popular Karwa chauth recipes are aloo chana chaat, aloo dahi wale, papri chaat, poori bhaji, methi ki puri, ragada patties and badam puri.

We have a quick Methi Puri recipe for you! Mix asafetida, turmeric powder, salt, ginger paste, finely chopped fenugreek leaves and green chilies to wheat flour as you add water. Make small balls from the dough, roll out and deep fry in hot oil!
