You wouldn’t associate sandwiches with Indian cuisine, would you? Yet they are not only popular but also plentiful! With fillings ranging from chutneys to pickles and healthy veggies to paneer, they leave you satisfied both in the taste and nutrition departments!
At first, brown bread is the ideal alternative to white bread.
Try out these 4 twisted all-time favourites:
1) Mint chutney veggie delight: To prepare the chutney grind100 gms of fresh mint, 100 gms of coriander, 5 cloves garlic, 1″ piece of ginger, 2 green chillies, 1 tsp sugar, 1/2 tsp salt, 2 tsps lime juice. Apply the chutney evenly on both the slices of bread with veggies of your choice. The SECRET is to add a pinch of salt, pepper and chaat masala. Serve with tomato sauce or melted butter.
2) Gravy sandwich: When you have some left-over chicken gravy, it is the perfect addition to your sandwich. Pour this gravy over your bread slices (do not soak them) to add extra flavor to your sandwich.
3) Achari sandwich: Take any pickle that you have at home and mix it with cream and butter to form a paste. Apply this paste evenly on the bread slices and serve with sauce.
4) Bread pakoda sandwich: Mix ½ cup of besan, ¼ tsp of turmeric powder, ¼ tsp red chilli powder and salt in a large bowl. Add a little water at a time and mix to make a thick batter. Heat 2 tbsps of oil in another pan and add the 1 tsp cumin seeds, 6 pieces of garlic, 1 onion, 2 green chillies (chopped) and cook. Add ¾ tsp of tumeric powder and mix well. Add 3 boilled mashed potatoes and mix. Season with salt. Apply this between slices and dip them in the besan mixture. Deep fry till golden brown.
