The Big Fig

Though figs are seasonal fruits, they are available throughout the year in their dried form.

They taste better in dried form & are highly Nutritious as they contain Vitamins A, B & Minerals like phosphorus, calcium, iron and manganese.

Here’s a special Fig / Anjeer Recipe for you!

Indulge your sweet-tooth! Try this special ‘Anjeer Ka Halwa’.

Ingredients –

• 20 – 25 no. of dried anjeer / figs

• 1/2 cup almonds, blanched, peeled & powdered

• 3 tbsp ghee

• 1/3 cup powdered milk

• 4 tbsp sugar

• 1/4 tsp elaichi / cardamom powder

For the garnish – 2 tbsp slivered almonds

Directions –

First cook the figs in boiling water for about 5 minutes. Drain the water & puree them.

Now heat the ghee in a heavy bottomed pan. Add powdered almonds & saute over a medium flame for about 2 minutes.

Add the pureed figs, milk powder, sugar with 1/2 cup of water & cook for about 5 minutes till the sugar has dissolved, stirring continuously.

Add some cardamom powder & mix well. Garnish with slivered almonds. Serve hot!
